The Greater Milwaukee Tamil Sangam (GMTS) is committed to maintaining clear, respectful, and secure communication channels. This Messaging Policy outlines the guidelines and expectations for communication between GMTS, its members, and other stakeholders through email, social media, private messaging, and discussion forums.

1. Purpose of Communication

GMTS messaging is intended to:

  • Enable private communication between members and participation in discussion groups/forums.

2. Guidelines for Members

Members interacting with GMTS communication channels, including private messaging and discussion forums, are expected to:

  • Use respectful and professional language.

  • Avoid sharing offensive, inappropriate, or misleading content.

  • Refrain from spamming, harassment, or sending unsolicited messages.

GMTS reserves the right to moderate, remove, or block any inappropriate or disruptive communications, including within private messages and discussion forums.

3. Communication Channels

GMTS communicates through the following channels:

  • Email: Used for official announcements, event invitations, and administrative correspondence.

  • Social Media: Includes posts and updates on GMTS’s official social media platforms to engage the community.

  • Website Notifications: Updates and alerts posted on the GMTS website.

  • Private Messaging: A feature allowing members to send messages directly to other members within the platform.

  • Discussion Groups/Forums: Spaces for members to share activities, post updates, and participate in community discussions.

4. Personal Data in Communication

  • Any personal data shared in communication is handled in compliance with our Privacy Policy.

  • Members are encouraged not to share sensitive personal information through private messaging or discussion forums.

5. Security and Privacy

  • GMTS ensures the security of its communication systems by using encrypted platforms and secure login credentials.

  • Unauthorized access, misuse, or tampering with GMTS messaging channels, including private messages and forums, is prohibited.

6. Opt-Out Options

Members may opt out of receiving promotional emails or messages by using the unsubscribe option provided in our communications or by contacting us at contact@ourgmts.org. However, critical updates and administrative notifications may still be sent as necessary.

7. Use of Private Messaging and Forums

  • Private messaging is intended for direct, respectful, and meaningful communication between members. Misuse, including harassment or spamming, will result in suspension or termination of access.

  • Discussion forums are spaces for collaborative and respectful exchanges. Members should ensure posts align with GMTS values and community standards.

8. Amendments to This Policy

GMTS reserves the right to update this Messaging Policy as needed. Changes will be posted on the GMTS website, and continued use of our messaging services signifies acceptance of any updates.
